How often will you use the breast pump?

Breastfeeding can be a full-time job. If you’re at work, it is suggested that you pump every three to four hours for around 15 minutes each session. This may sound like a lot, but this goes back to the concept of supply and demand. Your baby takes in milk every few hours so pumping that often will ensure that they are able to get what they need when they need it from you!

Are my nipples too small for breastfeeding?

If you’re wondering if your nipples are too small for breastfeeding, the answer is probably no. In most cases, small nipples are not a problem for breastfeeding.

There are a few exceptions, however. If your nipples are extremely flat or inverted, it may be more difficult to get your baby to latch on. If you’re having difficulty breastfeeding, talk to a lactation consultant or your doctor.

They can help you figure out if your nipple size is a problem and, if so, what can be done to help.

What is the smallest breast pump flange size?

The smallest breast pump flange size is typically around 13mm. This size is typically used for women with smaller nipples.

If the flange is too large, it can cause pain and discomfort, and if it is too small, it may not create a seal and will be less effective.

There are a variety of flange sizes available, so it is important to find the right size for you. If you are not sure what size you need, you can ask your doctor or lactation consultant.

Tips on how to avoid nipple soreness and pain when pumping

When I became a mom, from the beginning I was thinking about how to feed 100% breast milk to my baby without Pain.

I didn’t have so much luck. I was in pain. When I’ll turn on the breast pump I would cringe. Because it would hurt so much deep down my soul. So I really had to figure out how to make this thing easier. I follow three ways to avoid pain. Let’s see….

Step 1: You need to troubleshoot the flange size. There are very different flange sizes. The standard size of the age may not be the right one for me. I had 24 millimeters, but I needed 27 millimeters. So, make sure that when you are pumping, your nipple does not touch this plastic part around. This should be free moving.

Step 2: You need to control the power of the suction. So for example, when I start my Medela, it’s in the off position, I started to the minimum speed and keep this position for two minutes. Once that’s finished, I will also let it go for five minutes at the minimum setting. Then I’ll increase it midway between minimum because I want to make sure that I don’t overstimulate and hurt my nipples.

I never did it to the maximum because that hurts for me. But if you have no problem, go for it because you will pump much faster, the milk, but for me, that takes 30 minutes and the last 10 minutes is where everything comes out.

Step 3: I found a hack/ silicone breast pad. These are awesome. I put these on top of the flange. It really protects my breasts around it and doesn’t hurt. It’s amazing, its works with Philips Aventis pump. So again these silicon breast pads made the world of a difference for me, and that’s so much easier pumping.
